Abstract

In today's world, the goal of education has shifted from reading and writing to more important goals such as creative thinking, problem solving, lifelong learning, information literacy, and familiarity with information and communication technology. The main purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between creativity and self-confidence with academic progress in the mathematics course of first secondary school students. This research was done descriptively. The statistical population included all the first secondary students of Sabzevar city (10,807 people), of which 5,564 were boys and 5,243 were girls. Stratified sampling method was used for this research. The sample size was determined based on Morgan's table of 371 people. The research tools were Torrance's creativity questionnaire (1996) and Rosenberg's self-confidence questionnaire (1965). The data was tested and analyzed using the Pearson correlation and regression method through the SPSS 18 software. The results showed that creativity and self-confidence have a positive and significant relationship with academic progress in the mathematics course of first secondary school students in Sabzevar city. Also, creativity and self-confidence can predict academic progress.
